MINISTRY OVERVIEW

What is the Carpenter’s Project?

The Carpenter’s Project is an independent Baptist ministry dedicated to advancing church planting and fostering sustainable church growth in regions where people remain largely unreached.

Our mission is to empower and equip national pastors with the resources they need to build solid, Bible believing churches.

Our focus is to assist indigenous Bible schools in preparing students for the ministry and then to assist graduates who enter a church planting ministry. We offer the missionary temporary personal support, ministry materials, and equipment for discipleship training, local evangelism, and construction materials for places of worship.

50 Sponsor 50 projects in 12 countries

31 Provide financial assistance to 31 church planting missionaries

18 Construct or renovate 13 church buildings and improve facilities at 5 Bible colleges

Our church planting programs have assisted national church planters start more than 100 churches in 12 countries.

70% of the church buildings we funded are in Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist communities. Special projects support the outreach efforts of indigenous churches and Bible colleges in Asia, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean. Your help with one of these projects would be a blessing.

WHY NATIONAL CHURCH PLANTERS

Local Leaders Are Best Prepared to Reach Their Own Communities

National pastors already speak the language, understand the culture, and know the people they are called to serve. They recognize the spiritual needs of their communities and can build relationships that continue long after outside help is gone.

Many have completed their Bible training and are ready to begin, but they lack the financial support needed during the first years of planting a church. The Timothy Project gives these men temporary assistance while they preach the Gospel, disciple new believers, and build churches that can eventually support their own pastor and ministry.

Support typically begins at $125 per month and gradually decreases over five years as the new church grows toward supporting its own pastor. This temporary help gives a trained national church planter time to establish a lasting local ministry.

Siang Ve Story – Faithful to God’s Call

Beyond the urban limits of Yangon or Mandalay are thousands of small farming towns and communities producing rice, beans, and corn. To one of these communities, the Lord called Siang Ve in 2019 to start a church.

Geremew’s Story – Our Way or God’s Way

Western Ethiopia is on a high plateau. It’s a warm, dry, sparsely populated region where subsistence farming is the predominant occupation. Its citizens are mostly Muslim; some are Ethiopian Orthodox followers. It’s an area with no true Gospel witness.

Pastor Abraham – When God Calls, He Leads

In December 2013, a coup in Sudan, spawned by ethnic hatred, began six long years of fighting and suffering for the 10 million people of Southern Sudan. After more than 400,000 deaths, four million were displaced to neighboring countries as Sudan’s northern and southern tribes separated to form two distinct countries.

Getachew’s Story – Bless Them Who Persecute You

Getachew accepted Christ in a Muslim community in southern Ethiopia and answered God’s call to plant a church. He and his family endured severe persecution, but their faithfulness helped establish a growing congregation. Men from that church later entered the ministry and planted five more churches in the surrounding area.
